For teachers
Creating and assigning worksheets
Teachers can give pupils two kinds of worksheet. An ordinary worksheet is one you build, publish and assign, and you can keep managing who receives it. A Revision worksheet is prepared from your pupils' earlier results and given out once, to the pupils in the class at that moment. The steps below are for ordinary worksheets; Revision worksheets have their own section. Worksheets explains what pupils see.
The worksheet library
The Worksheets area has three views:
- This class shows the worksheets pupils in this class can currently access, including assignments made by another teacher or for the whole level.
- Created by you holds the worksheets you maintain, including drafts.
- Across the school lets you find worksheets colleagues have published.
For each worksheet in the class view, Class progress shows pupils' completion and question responses together, and Timing shows when it was assigned and when a pupil last worked on it.
Building a worksheet
Worksheet building is available to schools and tuition centres that have it turned on. If you can't see the option, contact the MCQ.SG team. Choose the level, topics, skills, difficulty, question type and number of questions. MCQ.SG suggests matching questions, and you can review and adjust the selection before saving.
Save, publish, assign
An ordinary worksheet goes through three separate steps:
- Save keeps your changes as a draft.
- Publish makes that version available for use in your school.
- Assign chooses which pupils receive it: your classes, a student group, individual pupils, or a whole level where that's allowed. It can open straight away or at a scheduled time.
You can save without publishing and publish without assigning. Each worksheet has one maintainer who edits its content. Once it's published, colleagues in your school can assign it to their own pupils, but they can't edit it.
Managing your assignment
Each teacher chooses the recipients of their own assignment. To change who receives yours, choose Manage assignment. Clearing the last recipient removes your assignment.
Assignments can overlap. If a colleague has also assigned the same worksheet to some of the same pupils, their assignment keeps giving those pupils access when you remove yours. The worksheet's maintainer can also end a colleague's assignment, or all active assignments, but can't change the pupils a colleague chose.
The worksheet's History records who changed its content, publication, archiving or recipients, and which classes, levels, groups or pupils were affected. It doesn't show pupils' answers or results.
Changing a worksheet after pupils start
Pupils who have started keep the version they began with, so their work never changes under them. Saving edits doesn't affect anyone. Once you publish a new version, only pupils starting for the first time get it.
Removing an assignment or archiving a worksheet keeps work pupils have already started or finished. Only the maintainer can archive a worksheet. If it still has active assignments, the option is End assignments and archive, which ends every current assignment first. Pupils who have started can carry on, but no one new can start an archived worksheet. Restoring it later brings it back unassigned.
Following up on results
Completion shows who hasn't started, who is in progress and who has finished. Results show how pupils did on each question. A pupil can finish and still struggle with particular questions, so both are worth checking. Each pupil has one attempt at an assigned worksheet. Pupils can practise their mistakes through Revision without changing the result you see.
To compare pupils across several worksheets, the Student matrix shows each pupil against each of the class's worksheets. Worksheet headers show the class's completion rate, and in-progress cells show how many questions have been attempted.
Revision worksheets
Revision worksheets are built from your pupils' earlier results. You can give everyone the same questions or prepare a personalised set for each pupil. Unlike an ordinary worksheet, a Revision worksheet is given out once, to the pupils in the class at that moment, and it can't be reassigned or resubmitted. The earlier result it was built from stays unchanged.
A pupil joined after I gave out a Revision worksheet. Can they get it?
Not that one. A Revision worksheet is fixed to the pupils in the class when it was given out. Prepare a new Revision worksheet for pupils who joined later.
