Answers, feedback and help

Every question on MCQ.SG comes with feedback once it's answered. Depending on the question and the pupil's class settings, they can also get help before answering and ask the AI Tutor about it afterwards.

Feedback after an MCQ

After answering an MCQ, the pupil sees straight away whether they were right, with an explanation of the correct answer. They can open more detail if they want to understand it better.

Marking of open-ended answers

Open-ended answers are marked part by part, so a pupil can earn partial marks. They get coaching on how to improve and a suggested answer to compare with their own.

Is the open-ended marking always right?

No. Marking is automatic and can sometimes be wrong or unclear. If a mark looks wrong, use the feedback option on that question. A report helps us check and improve, but it doesn't change the mark automatically.

Help before and after answering

When the question and the pupil's class settings allow it, Need help? gives guidance before answering, to help the pupil think the question through. After answering, the pupil can ask the AI Tutor about the question and its feedback, for example why an option is wrong.

Why can't I use Need help? or the Tutor?

Help depends on the question and on the pupil's class settings. A school can turn the Tutor off for a class or limit it to certain hours. These class settings still apply when a family pays for its own plan.

Typing, speaking and other answer formats

Pupils can speak instead of typing in supported answer boxes and in the Tutor. Tap the microphone and allow the browser to use it, then check the words before submitting, because speech can be heard wrongly.

Some open-ended questions use text boxes, and others use structured inputs such as tables.

Can I upload a photo of my handwritten answer?

Not at the moment. There's no general option to upload a photo of a handwritten answer. Use the answer fields provided with each question, and the microphone where it's shown.
